MONROE –
On Monday, October 2, 2023, at approximately 2257 hours, Monroe Police received a discharging firearms call in Tanglewood. While en route, another 9-1-1 call was dispatched to North Broad Street near G.W. Carver Drive about gunshot victims on location.
Upon arrival of the gunshot victims, police immediately identified two individuals, shot multiple times, and rendered aid. The wounded individuals are 19-year-old DAMEON JOHNSON and 18-year-old CODY HALL, who were transported to Piedmont-Athens by EMS. Unfortunately, JOHNSON succumbed to his injuries.
The shooting incident is an active and ongoing investigation by the Monroe Police Department, and we seek the public’s help if anyone should have any information concerning this incident.
