CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION



ABOUT CID

The Monroe Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for follow-up investigations of calls and incidents THAT fall outside the scope of the Uniform Patrol Division.

Offenses are separated as crimes against persons and crimes against property.
then, resources are allocated by the severity of the criminal act (felony or misdemeanor) and further categorized by the presence or absence of witnesses or physical evidence used to complete an investigation of the incident.

The Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of several constituent units:

  • Crime Scene Investigations (CSI)
  • Property and Evidence
  • Forensic Evidence Lab
  • Computer and Cell Phone Forensic
  • Drone Unit

 

Commanded by Lieutenant Darryl Powell (dpowell@monroega.gov), the Criminal Investigations is comprised of:

  • 2 Sergeants
  • 9 Detectives



CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATIONS:

CSI personnel are highly trained in the collection of evidence and forensic examination. The unit utilizes specialized equipment to identify, develop, secure, and package physical evidence needed for scientific evaluation and comparison.



PROPERTY AND EVIDENCE

The Property and Evidence Unit is responsible for receiving, organizing, and maintaining all property and evidence turned in by law enforcement personnel.

CRIMINAL INVISTIGATION DIVISION COMMANDER -
CAPTAIN JOHN PILGRIM

1994 Graduate of Rockdale County High school Served as an infantry Rifleman with 1st BTN 1st Mar at Camp Pendleton, CA. Employed with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office from 1997-2005 Worked as a jailer, Uniform Patrol, Special Operations, and SWAT Began his career with the City of Monroe Police Department in 2006 At Monroe Police Department he worked as a patrol officer, detective, SWAT, Corporal assigned to the HEAT unit, Sergeant, and Lieutenant in Uniform Patrol. He has worked as the Administration Division Commander and is currently assigned as the CID Commander. He is a 2020 graduate of Faulkner University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, he currently holds the following certifications from GA POST: Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Supervision, and Management. He is currently enrolled in the Master’s Program at Columbus State University.
